Skipper Renjith Mani’s allround show continues

Thambapanni Lions won the toss and elected to field. Collaze Bake House’s opener Qamar Awan got run out for 11 after being in an opening partnership of 27 runs with his skipper Renjith Mani. Then one-drop Shakeer Hydru and Renjith Mani put on 90 runs for the second wicket.  Renjith Mani got out to Glenn Warren Fernandes for 65 at the score of 117. His knock off 39 balls had ten boundaries. One run later Shakeer Hydru was clean bowled by Glenn Warren Fernandes for 35.

Laxman Sreekumar and Vishnu Ramesh pushed the score to 132 when Laxman got out to Hirantha Baddage for 9. Vishnu Ramesh fell after the score crossed the 150-run mark, clean bowled by Mohamed Ameen Miflal for 18. Junaid Shamsu once again helped push up the total through a quick unbeaten 27 runs off 15 balls with three sixes.  Mazhar Hussain was out for a duck to Samal Udawathth. Akhil K Das and Junaid Shamsu then took the score to 172. After Akhil K Das became yet another Mohamed Ameen Miflal victim for 1, Touqeer Riyasat and Junaid Shamsu took the total to 187 for 7 in 20 overs with Riyasat remaining unbeaten on 12.

Chasing the target, Thambapanni Lions got off to a good start with Waruna Perera and Samal Udawaththa putting on 40 runs. Renjith Mani, well known for breaking partnerships, did that again. He clean bowled Waruna Perera for 6. Samal Udawaththa and one-drop Mohamed Halan added another 44 runs for the second wicket before Udawaththa got out to Harry Bharwal for 56. His knock off 36 balls had nine boundaries. This was followed by another partnership between Mohamed Halan and Shabik that took the score to 118 before Halan fell leg before to Mazhar Hussain for 26.

Shabik also was involved in another big partnership of 62 for the fourth wicket along with Charith Buddika Gunawardana. They almost carried the team to the target when Charith Buddika Gunawardana fell to the third ball of the last over from Touqeer Riyasat for 32. Shabik fought a valiant battle and was out to the last ball of the match from Riyasat for 40. His knock off 38 balls with four boundaries went in vain as Thambapanni Lions lost the match by four runs. Riyasat gave away just four runs in the last over and bagged those two wickets.
