A feast from Lanka Premier League 2023 for cricket fans in the MENA region, India, and subcontinent

From July 30 to August 21,
cricket fans in the MENA region, India, and the subcontinent can look forward
to a feast of exhilarating cricket. Star Sports, one of the leading sports
networks, has acquired the exclusive television media rights for the upcoming
Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023.
The Lanka Premier League will feature sensational players like Babar Azam, Shakib Al Hasan, David Miller, as well as Sri Lanka's stars including Thisara Parera, Wanidu Hasaranga, Angelo Mathews, and skipper Dasun Shanaka. Over the past three seasons, it has won the hearts of many, and the fourth season will be held across two venues: R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.

and CEO of IPG Group—the official rights holder of LPL—announced the television
media rights, stating, "We are delighted to announce Star Sports as the official
television broadcaster for the fourth edition of the Lanka Premier League 2023.
Since the inception of the LPL, it has not only showcased an exciting brand of
cricket but also provided a platform for Sri Lankan cricket to steadily churn
out talented cricketers."

Expressing his delight over the event reaching out to a wider audience, Mohan added, "With committed stakeholders like Star Sports, we are very excited to bring the global cricketing audience an opportunity to witness not only an extremely competitive and captivating brand of T20 cricket but also unmatched non-live cricketing content for fans across India, Sri Lanka, the subcontinent, and the MENA region."

Tournament Director of the Lanka Premier League 2023, expressed his confidence
in the tournament reaching greater heights, stating, "I am highly
confident that the Lanka Premier League 2023 is going to reach new heights in
terms of competitiveness among teams and excitement among fans, thus elevating
the tournament to a new level. Having a renowned broadcaster like Star Sports
take the tournament to the doorstep of a wider audience is highly
welcome."

The Lanka Premier League will be another feather in the cap for Star Sports. The Star Sports network is home to some of the top international and domestic sports properties, including the ICC, Indian Premier League, Cricket Australia, Indian Super League, Premier League, and Wimbledon. The addition of the LPL will surely bolster the cricketing roster of the network even more.

The participating five teams are
Colombo Strikers, Dambulla Aura, Galle Titans, Jaffna Kings, and B-Love Kandy.
Jaffna Kings are the defending champions, having beaten Colombo Stars by two
wickets in an exciting final held on December 23, 2022, at the R. Premadasa
Stadium in Colombo."
