Corey Anderson’s breezy unbeaten 40 and a deadly four-wicket spell for five runs give Morrisville Unity an emphatic win over New Jersey Triton’s in the 17th match of the US Masters T10

Morrisville Unity and New Zealand’s finest all-rounder, Corey Anderson, who in 2014 hit the fastest One Day International hundred through his 36-ball knock against the West Indies and recorded many great spells with his left-arm pace, produced a spectacular all-round show in the 17th match of the US Masters T10 held on Thursday at Lauderhill, Florida. Anderson cracked an unbeaten 40 to help Morrisville Unity post 124 for 1 in 10 overs. He then produced a deadly spell, taking four wickets for just five runs from his two overs to restrict New Jersey Triton to 69 for 7, gifting his team an emphatic 55-run win.

New Jersey Triton elected to field, hoping to restrict Morrisville Unity to a small total. However, all their plans were thwarted from the start. Opener Rajdeep Darbar and Shehan Jayasuriya put on 52 runs. Rajdeep retired hurt at a score of 15. One run later, Shehan Jayasuriya got out to Liam Plunkett for 34.

Obus Pienaar, who is among the runs, and Corey Anderson put on an unbeaten 71-run partnership for the third wicket. Pienaar scored an unbeaten 31 off 11 balls with three sixes and two boundaries. Anderson hit an unconquered 40 off just 18 balls with four sixes and two boundaries. This enabled Morrisville Unity to post an impressive total of 124 for 1 in 10 overs.

Chasing a required run rate of 12.40 to win the match isn’t easy. New Jersey Triton did not start comfortably, losing their opener Jesse Ryder to the second ball of the first over from S. Sreesanth for a duck. Opener Peter Trego also got out with the score at 8. Yusuf Pathan and Cameron Delport tried to steady their innings and took the score to 50. Pathan got out for 17, falling to Corey Anderson. Thereafter, Anderson went for the kill, taking wickets regularly.

Anderson dismissed Chris Barnwell for a duck. Danza Hyatt was stumped by wicketkeeper Rajdeep Darbar off Dane Piedt for 7. Anderson ended Cameron Delport’s knock of 26 by clean bowling him. He also clean bowled Naman Ojha for a duck. Bipul Sharma and Abhimanyu Mithun remained unbeaten with scores of 4 and 5 respectively, and their team could muster only 69 for 7, losing the match by 55 runs.

Three teams secure a place in the play-offs.  Who will be the fourth?
