Adrian Griffith, who batted on all five days of a Test match, appointed as the Chief Cricket Operations Officer of Legends League Cricket

Dubai: Former West Indies cricketer Adrian Griffith will assume the role of Chief Cricket Operations Officer for Legends League Cricket (LLC), as announced by Raman Raheja, the Co-Founder & CEO of LLC.  Griffith, currently a sports consultant with over 15 years of experience in various facets of international cricket, including match officiating, technology, event planning, and operations, has been selected for this position.


Griffith holds the distinction of being only the sixth batsman in Test cricket history to have batted on each of the all five days of a match, achieved in 1999 against New Zealand in Hamilton. During that Test, Griffith scored an unbeaten 103 on the first day and ended his innings on the second day with a total of 114, contributing to West Indies' first innings score of 365.  On the third day, New Zealand batted briskly to score 393 runs and Griffith who opened the second innings remained unbeaten on zero. On the fourth day, two sessions were washed out and Griffith remained unbeaten on 14 at the end of the day after West Indies collapsed to 66 for 4. On day five, Griffith got out for 18, and West Indies got bowled out for 97 owing to Chris Cairns spell of 7 for 27 and New Zealand recorded a nine wicket win.

Many legends participating in the LLC possess similar remarkable tales. Over the course of four editions, these legends have contributed significantly to the success of the event. After his playing career, Griffith spent 14 years with the International Cricket Council (ICC) as a Senior Manager - Cricket, overseeing all aspects of international cricket and leading the management of match officials worldwide. He played a pivotal role in introducing DRS technology to cricket and is currently involved in developing cricket infrastructure in the USA for the ICC World Cup 2024.

Upon completing his assignment with the ICC in June 2024 during the T20 World Cup in the USA, Griffith will provide support to the LLCT20 Apex Council and technical committee in drafting operational documents such as playing conditions and the code of conduct. He will also facilitate the integration of more technology into the league and provide support to the governing council in tournament operations.
