Nayar The two outstanding teams in the  CBFS powered by Fancode S10 tournament have reached the final with MGM Cricket Club scoring an emphatic eight-wicket win over Prim Heights Transport and InterGlobe Marine defeating Alubond Tigers by 41 runs in the semi-final clashes held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Thursday. The question in everyone’s mind now is whether InterGlobe Marine can stop the unbeaten MGM Cricket Club in the final. InterGlobe Marine carries with them the confidence of being the champions of the CBFS T20 tournament.  The architect of MGM Cricket Club’s win was left-arm pacer Saifullah Noor who bagged three crucial wickets to restrict Prim Height Transport to 67 runs. By K.R. Nayar It was a day of upsets at the CBFS powered by Fancode S10 tournament at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. Unfancied Prim Heights Transport shocked Brothers Gas to win by four wickets in the first match of the day and in the second match Alubond Tigers stunned Fair Deal Defenders, who were unbeaten in this event, by five wickets.  It was Mehboob Ali’s spell of two wickets for five runs that set the tempo to restrict Brothers Gas’ strong batting line up to 86 for 8 and race into the semifinal. In Alubond’s victory, their opener Sagar Kalyan, through a breezy 38, that included 32 runs in one over, chased down Fair Deal Defenders’ impressive total of 123 for 5 in 8.1 overs. By K.R. Nayar InterGlobe Marine skipper Asif Mumtaz produced his best when it mattered most and proved why he has been a successful leader that won them the CBFS T20 tournament title. Through a nerve-cracking contest in the CBFS powered by Fancode S10 tournament at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Tuesday that ended in a Super Over finish against Qudran International, he carried InterGlobe Marine into the semifinal of this event.  Mumtaz produced a spectacular display of accurate off spin bowling to bag five wickets for 12 runs to restrict Qudran International to 99 for 8, and in the Super Over, he bagged two more wickets giving away no runs for a total of seven wickets for 12 runs.  In the first match, Muhammad Hassan, who had steered MGM Cricket Club into the quarterfinals through his unbeaten 42n.o against Arqum Cricket Club, sparkled with the ball this time. He bagged three wickets for eight runs to ensure his team a place in the semifinal through a nine-wicket win over NFL Falcons.

Over 50’s cricketers practice with fervor, nostalgia and passion to excel

Nayar It’s not youngsters alone who are now coming out to play cricket in the UAE, but past cricketers over the age of 50 are also returning to play the game.  The trend of attracting over 50’s began when a group of former cricketers who had played international cricket for the UAE or their country of birth but now living in the UAE decided to return to the cricket field and launched the Over 50’s cricket. As the first step, net practice sessions have commenced at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. By K.R. Nayar MGM Cricket Club produced a sterling allround show to stun InterGlobe Marine in the 28 th  match of the  CBFS powered by Fancode T10 tournament at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sunday. The Sunday contests thus got off to a splendid start with the mighty InterGlobe Marine, winners of the CBFS T20 tournament, being restricted to 95 for 9. The hero of this match was MGM’s off-spinner  Aitizaz Habib who produced a spell of 4 for 20 well backed by left-arm pacer Saifullah Noor (3 for 7).
