Handle setbacks and criticism the Vengsarkar way

By K.R. Nayar  Meeting with the legendary batsman Dilip Vengsarkar, whether it is in Dubai or Mumbai, has always been interesting. We have always talked for hours, with most of the conversations relating to his views on happenings in Indian cricket or international cricket. Sharjah Cricket Stadium and the Bukhatir League once again lived up to its reputation of producing electrifying cricket with Umair Ali of Future Mattress and Sagar Kalyan of Ajman Heroes sparkling under the lights. Nayar UAE’s two outstanding cricketers Asif Khan and Rohan Mustafa produced sterling performances to carry their teams into the Cup final of the Bukhatir S10 league powered by Fancode at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Asif Khan cracked a whirlwind unbeaten knock of 76 off 31 balls with eight boundaries and five sixes to ensure a 71-runs win over Brothers Gas. In another semifinal match, Rohan Mustafa destroyed the top order of The Vision Shipping and ensured a six-wicket win for Future Mattress. In the first semifinal match, Future Mattress opted to field and had The Vision Shipping’s opener Saqib Mehmood caught by Haider Ali at deep mid-wicket for 9 off Umair Ali. Nayar Dawood Ejaz’s 54 for Pakistan Super Market (PSM) XI and Ajman Heroes’ Mohammad Ajmal’s three wickets for 11 runs carried their teams to the Plate final of the  Bukhatir S10 league powered by Fancode at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.  Pakistan Super Market (PSM) XI defeated Hemnet Properties by 24 runs in the first plate semifinal while Ajman Heroes down Rajkot Thunders by six wickets.  In the first Plate semifinal, Pakistan Super Market (PSM) XI opted to bat and got off to a breezy start. Openers Dawood Ejaz and Abdullah Azhar put on 108 runs in 6.1 overs. Abdullah Azhar hit 42 runs off 16 balls with three boundaries and four sixes before falling to Faraz Hussain. Dawood Ejaz took the score to 122 while Saif Khan dismissed Ejaz for 54. His knock off 22 balls had five sixes and four boundaries. Nayar Brother’s Gas’s Usman Khan cracked 52 runs in his team’s 19-runs win over Medisol Labs – GHI to clinch a semifinal spot in the  Bukhatir S10 league powered by Fancode at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.  In another quarterfinal match, Asim Kamal produced a deadly spell of four wickets for nine runs to ensure The Vision Shipping a six-wicket win over Colatta Chocolates and also reach the semifinal. The third quarterfinal match saw Medisol Labs – GHI winning the toss and electing to field. Brothers Gas got off to a breezy start with Usman Khan going for his shots. He put on 52 runs in five overs before losing his partner Hamdan Tahir to Muzamil for 8.  At the score on 63, Usman Khan, who did majority of the scoring, fell to Rizwan Azam for 52. Nayar A fine three wicket spell from Irad Ali giving away no run gave The Vision Shipping a nine-wicket win over Fair Deal Defenders 7 District, while two matches ended in a last over finish, adding more excitement to the Bukhatir S10 league powered by Fancode matches at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. In the 17 th  match of the tournament, Future Mattress defeated Colatta Chocolates by four wickets in the first of the two matches that went into the last over.  Future Mattress elected to field and saw Colatta Chocolates post a challenging 123 for 5. Though Colatta Chocolates opener Shinto George fell for a duck to Tassawar Jammu, Renjith Mani and Hari Prasanth lifted their team through a 63-runs partnership for the second wicket in just 4.1 overs. Nayar Two sparkling half centuries from Brothers Gas’ Jiju Janardhanan and Future Mattress’s Syed Haider Shah steered their teams to victories, while timely spells from Fair Deal Defenders 7 District’s Muhammad Imran and InterGlobe Marine’s Hazrat Luqman gave their team’s impressive victories in the Bukhatir S10 league powered by Fancode at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The 13 th  match of the tournament was a keenly fought one. It was a low scoring match between  Fair Deal Defenders 7 District and Ajman Heroes.  In fact, Ajman Heroes, after electing to field, restricted Fair Deal Defenders 7 District to 93 for 7. It was Ajman Heroes' veteran off spinner Nasir Aziz who with a two-wicket for 13 runs spell restricted Fair Brothers despite knocks from Shaizoo (28) and Syed Saqlain (28n.o).
