Mitchell Starc became the most expensive signing in Indian Premier League (IPL) history during the IPL auction held at the Coca Cola Arena, Dubai. Kolkata Knight Riders paid a staggering INR 24.75 crores. He broke the record set by his Australian team captain Pat Cummins just an hour ago when he got sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for IRS 20.5 crore. The Australians went past England’s Sam Curran's record of INR 18.50 crores paid by Punjab Kings in 2023. Another costly buy during the second phase of the IPL was Alzarri Joseph, the WI fast bowler who entered with a base price of INR 1 crore. Royal Challengers Bangalore snapped him up for 11.5 crore. UP top order batsman Sameer Rizvi Rizvi starting off at a base price of 20 lakh got sold to Chennai for INR 8.40 crore. Rajasthan Royals got Shubham Dubey for INR 5.80 crore.
