Battle for the top of the table slot intensifies in Emirates D10 tournament

Abu Dhabi rises from the bottom of the table to conquer Dubai though they bowed to the mighty Emirates Blues. Fujairah regains their winning rhythm to stop Ajman through a fine exhibition of their strength in all departments of the game.


After nine days of battle in the Fancode Emirates D10 2021 powered by SKY 247 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Fujairah is the table topper with 14 points followed by Sharjah and Emirates Blues with 12 points each. Ajman has picked 10 points. These four teams have qualified for the semifinal battle tomorrow (April 5).  The final round of the league game matches will be held today (April 4) starting with a mouth-watering battle between the two strongest teams – Fujairah and Emirates Blues. Will Fujairah be able to retain the top spot?
Ajman, who came back strongly after a poor start, is now being considered the dark horses and may conquer Dubai in the second match of the day. Sharjah will be aiming to pick two more points in the last match of the day against Abu Dhabi. The million-dollar question is who will win the final, also scheduled for tomorrow, to be held from 9.45 pm UAE time?



Match 25. Ninth day April 3, 2021, first match:
Abu Dhabi beat Dubai  by 15 runs
Toss: Abu Dhabi won the toss and elected to bat

Abu Dhabi avenged their first-round defeat to Dubai through a 15-runs win. Electing to bat first, Abu Dhabi posted 99 for 7 in 10 overs. Dubai bowled well with Ali Anwar, Nilansh Keswani, and Muhammad Farooq taking two wickets each. At one stage Abu Dhabi was 27 for 5 in 4.3 overs before they fought back through Mohammad Kamran (26) and Osama Hasan’s quick 39 off 16 balls with four sixes and a boundary.
Chasing the gettable target, Dubai began well. Opener Kai Smith hit 25 while Ali Anwar chipped in with 20. Irfan Ayub changed the course of the match through a deadly spell of 3 for 5 from his two overs well backed by Fayyaz Ahmed with 2 for 17.  Irfan Ayub was rightly adjudged the player of the match.


Match 26. Ninth day April 3, 2021, second match:
Fujairah beat Ajman by five wickets
Toss: Fujairah won the toss and elected to bowl

Ajman got off to a promising start with opener and in-form Asif Khan cracking 38 off 25 balls with two sixes and three boundaries and one-drop Ameer Hamza scoring 23 runs off 20 balls with two sixes. Fujairah bowlers checked the run flow with Jiju Janardhanan taking two wickets for 19 runs. Though medium-pacer Zahoor Khan did not get any wicket, he gave away just six runs from his two overs and that restrained Ajman’s total to 95 for 3 in 10 overs.


Fujairah chased the target confidently despite losing opener Usman Khan for 4 to Danish Qureshi. Waseem Muhammad exhibited his big shots to crack 37 off 15 balls with three sixes and three boundaries. One-drop Chirag Suri too unleashed his aggressive shots to hit 33 off 14 balls with three sixes and two boundaries. Though Hamad Arshad bagged three wickets for 12 runs from his two overs, that effort wasn’t enough to restrict Fujairah from reaching the target. Jiju Janardhanan bagged the Player of the Match for his tight spell.


Match 27. Ninth day April 3, 2021, third match:
Emirates Blues beat Abu Dhabi by eight wickets
Toss: Emirates Blues won the toss and elected to bowl

Abu Dhabi could not produce the same magic against Emirates Blues in the third match of the ninth day like they did to stop top toppers Fujairah. Emirates won the toss and after putting Abu Dhabi into bat bowled intelligently. They never let the Abu Dhabi batsmen to settle down despite openers Ali Abid (17) and Osama Hasan (16) trying to give a good start. Muhammad Muzammil top scored with 19 runs. Emirates’ bowlers Waheed Ahmad with a spell of three wickets for just nine runs from his two overs and young Aryan Lakra’s spell of 2 for 10 restricted Abu Dhabi to 72 for 6 in 10 overs.

Emirates opener Mohammad Boota (24) and his partner Ateeq Ur Rehman through an unbeaten 44 off 29 balls with three boundaries and two sixes steered their team to the target in just eight overs. Waheed Ahmad bagged the Player of the Match award for his miserly three-wicket spell.
