Sagar Kalyan misses century as five batsmen hit match-winning half centuries in Sharjah Ramadan League 2022 powered by Fancode S10 tournament

Sagar Kalyan scored an unbeaten 96 in Karwan Strikers’ emphatic 96-runs win over Dubai Aviators to lead five other batsmen who scored half centuries for their teams in the Sharjah Ramadan League 2022 powered by Fancode S10 tournament at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.


The other match winning half centuries came from Al Shan Sharafu (50) and Syed Haider Shah (69n.o.) in Future Mattress’s 86-runs win over Machos Cricket Club. Khalil Ur Rehman hit 54 in HKSZ Stars 54 runs win over Kabul Zalmi. Jiju Janardahanan (74) and Muhammad Afzal (50) steered Brothers Gas to a 65 runs win over Rehan Khan Events. Meanwhile, MGM Cricket Club’s Rahul Chopra’s unbeaten 66 went in vain as his team lost to Colatta Chocolates by seven runs.

In other two matches, Muhammad Zeeshan and Sajjad Malook bowled brilliantly to ensure victories for Colatta Chocolates and The Vision Shipping respectively.

Ali Shan Sharafu and Syed Haider in big partnership

Future Mattress produced a strong batting performance by posting 150 for 4 against Machos Cricket Club. They lost opener and captain Rohan Musatafa for 3 and opener Zawar Fareed for 11. Ali Shan Sharafu cracked 50 off 21 balls with six boundaries and two sixes along with Syed Haider Shah who remained unbeaten on 69 in 25 balls with five boundaries and four sixes. Sharafu and Syed Haider had put on 91 runs for the third wicket.

Machos Cricket Club lost opener Adeel Rana at the score on 19 to Naseer Akram for 8. Tahir Latif clean bowled opener Ashraf Malik for 13. After Ronnie Thomas got out for 16, none of the other batsman scored double figures. Latif and Qamar Awan took two wickets each to restrict Machos to 64.

Khalil Ur Rehmnan’s dominant knock

Kabul Zalmi opted to field first and HKSZ went on to post 131 for 5 in the 10 overs. The consistent opener Khalil Ur Rehmnan cracked 54 off 23 balls with eight boundaries and two sixes before being bowled by Abdul Latif. Saleem chipped in with 29 while Raees Ahmed scored an unbeaten 30.


Chasing the score, Kabul Zalmi openers Muhammad Shahzaib and Rafeez Zaman put on 25 runs. After that they kept losing wickets regularly. First to go was Muhammad Shahzaib for 12. One-drop Abdul Khaliq got caught behind by wicketkeeper Saif Bangash off Salman Saleem for a duck. Rafeeq Zaman got bowled by Zikrya for 13. Noor Ulhaqa Afridi too became a Zikrya victim for a duck. When Salman Saleem got Amjad Khan out for 2, half the side was back in the dug-out for 35. In the end they could muster only 77 for 7 in 10 overs.

Jiju Janardhanan sparkles again

The architect of Brothers Gas win over Rehan Events 65 runs win over Rehan Events was their consistent match winner Jiju Janardhanan. He cracked 74 off 28 balls with ten boundaries and three sixes. Mohammad Afzal too chipped in with 50 runs off 16 balls with six boundaries and three sixes. Together they put on 104 runs for the third wicket. Though Umer Farooq got out to Rehan Khan for a duck and Zeeshan Abid got run out for also a duck, they posted an impressive 159 for 6 in the 10 overs.


Rehan Event chased through an opening partnership of 23 runs before Vinod Raghavan fell for 16. Wajahat Butt who scored 21 got bowled by Muhammad Azhar. Atif Ibrahim too scored 22 before falling to Muhammad Waseem. However, Rehan Events could not maintain the run flow and could muster only 94 for 4 in 10 overs.

Muhammad Zeeshan’s timely strikes

The Colatta Chocolates and MGM Cricket Club match was a thriller. Batting first, Colatta Chocolates could muster only 110 for 8. Opener and captain Renjit Mani scored 17 and one-drop Janaka Chaturanga scored 15 after opener Shinto George fell for just one run to Danish Qureshi. Though Mohammad Ajmal too got clean bowled to Danish Qureshi for a duck, Akhil Das scored 28 and wicketkeeper batsman Hari Prasanth chipped in with 20 runs.

The chase began on a tough note for MGM as they lost opener Mayank Kumar to the fourth ball of the first over from Manpreet Singh for 4. Muhammad Zeehsan picked the price wicket of skipper Ansar Khan trapped leg before for a duck. When Muhammad Kaleem too followed leg before to Muhammad Zeeshan for a duck, MGM slipped to 8 for 3. Hameed Khan and Rahul Chopra took the score to 31 before Hameed fell for 16. There after it was a Rahul Chopra show. He almost lifted his team to the target with an unbeaten 66 off 36 balls with six boundaries and two sixes. Muhammad Zeeshan bowled a brilliant ninth over giving away just six runs. Though Shyam Ramesh yielded 12 runs off the last over, MGM fell shot by seven runs. 

Sagar Kalyan’s brilliant show

Karwan Strikers who were put in to bat lost their opener Fayyaz Ahmed run out for 4. Thereafter Sagar Kalyan and Ameer Hamza dominated the Dubai Aviators’ attack. They put on 88 runs for the second wicket. Hamza fell to Faisal Khan for 25. Sagar Kalyan remained unconquered for 96 off 38 balls with 16 boundaries and two sixes as Karwan Strikers recorded 147 for 3 in 20 overs.

Chasing the huge target, Dubai Aviators opener Ahsan Shahzad fell to the first delivery from Hafeez Ur Rehman for a duck. Hafeez Ur Rehman also had opener Ridge Menezes caught behind by wicketkeeper Furqan Khalil for 4 and Azla Aeez clean bowled for 8. From 3 for 16 in 2.5 overs, Dubai Aviators never recovered. Except for Waqar Hussain who hit 18 runs, none reached double figures and were restricted to 51 for 9 in 9.1 overs.

Sajjad Mook’s allround show

Vision Shipping opted to bat first and scored 117 for 7 in 10 overs. The base for the score was set by openers skipper and opener Saqib Mehmood and Malik Nadeem who put on 33 runs in three overs.  Saqib fell to Rishab Mukherjee for 12. Malik Nadeem got stumped by wicketkeeper Sheraz Ahmed off Khyal Maan for 19. Sajjad Ali also got clean bowled by Khyal Maan for 2. Salman Khan got caught by Mohaibullah off Risab Mukherjee for 4. Soon Imran Afridi also bowled Jawad Ghani for 5. Sami Ur Rehman (21), Umar Arshad (17) and Sajjad Mook with an unbeaten 18 ensured a fighting total.

Al Moharb Cricket Academy opener and captain Asfan Dyar and Sheraz Ahmed Khalil put on 71 runs in 6.3 overs for the opening wicket. Sajjad Malook got Asfan Dyar out for 19. The Vision Shipping got Sheraz Khalil run out for 47 at a crucial stage. Sheraz’s 47 off 25 balls had three boundaries and three sixes. Khyal Maan hit an unbeaten 18 but could not carry the team to the target.
