Muhammad Imran Od and Dawood Ejaz hit match winning half centuries in the Cup Quarterfinals of the 28th edition of the Bukhatir League powered by Fancode

Four batsmen hit half centuries and two others missed fifties by less than five runs in the Cup Quarterfinals of the 28th edition of the Bukhatir League powered by Fancode. Two of the half century makers were Muhammad Imran Od (59), who along with Farhan Babar (56) steered Fair Deal Defenders 7 District to the semifinal through a six-wicket win over Brothers Gas.


In another match, Pakistan Super Market (PSM) XI beat The Vision Shipping by 5 wickets despite The Vision Shipping’s Shahbaz Ali hitting 53 runs.  Dawood Ejaz of Pakistan Super Market (PSM) XI played a fine match-winning knock of 62. Brothers Gas’ Ansh Tandon missed his half century by four runs and so did Pakistan Super Market’s Abdullah Azhar by five runs. It was a day when all teams scored over 150 runs.

In the first Cup Quarterfinal match, Brothers Gas opted to bat first but lost their star batsman Muhammad Waseem to Zameer Abbasi for 19. Ansh Tandon and Usman Khan took the score 85 in 10 overs when Muhammad Saghir Khan got Usman out for 25. Ansh Tandon kept the score board moving although Muhammad Afzal was out caught behind by wicketkeeper Farhan Babar off Muhammad Saghir Khan for 1.

At the score of 102, AnshTandon fell to Muhammad Imran for 46. Laxman Manjrekar took the score to 132 when skipper Yasir Maharvi got him out for 28. Nasir Faraz, through an unbeaten 34, took the score to 175 for 6 in 20 overs.

Although chasing such a big total wasn’t easy for Fair Deal Defenders 7 District, their openers Farhan Babar and Muhammad Imran Od set the base for the chase through a 109 runs partnership.  Imarn Od fell to Laxman Manjrekar after scoring 59 off 39 balls with six boundaries and four sixes. He went on to bag the PSM Player of the Match award. At the score of 147, Farhan Babar got run out for 56 off 41 balls with four boundaries and two sixes.


One-drop batsman Shahzad Ali hit a valuable 37 before getting out to Umar Farooq. He bagged the Hemani Fragrances Game – Changer/Best Performer award. Rizwan Amanat fell to Muhammad Waseem after scoring 12. Muhammad Saghir Khan hit a six off the second ball of the last over from Saqib Manshad to ensure his team a six wicket win and remain unbeaten on 8.


In the second Cup quarterfinal match, The Vision Shipping opted to bat first and lost the most valuable wicket of Malik Nadeem for a duck, caught behind by wicketkeeper Haseeb Ur Rehman off Saifullah Noor. One-drop Ubaidullah Muhammad too became a Saifullah Noor victim for a duck. Jawad Ghani and opener and captain Saqib Mehmood put on a 75 runs partnershiop for the third wicket before Farzan Raja got Jawad Ghani out for 32. One run later, Farzan Raja struck again to trap Saqib leg before for 33.


Irad Ali did not last long as he fell to Qamar Awan for 3 but Ali Abid held on to score 17 runs before he got caught behind by wicketkeeper Hasseb Ur Rehman off Irshad Hussain for 17. At this juncture Hafeez Afridi struck twice. He removed Fayyaz Ahmed clean bowled for 6 and Muhammad Farooq Momand caught and bowled for 1.

Shahbaz Ali took charge and kept scoring at a brisk rate through a fine 53 before falling to Qamar Awan. His knock off 29 balls had seven boundaries and a six which helped The Vision Shipping post a total of 159 in 19.5 overs. Qamar Awan who bagged three wickets for 26 runs bagged the Hemani Fragrances Game – Changer/Best bowler award.


It was a chase that needed intelligent batting. Pakistan Super Market XI captain Abdullah Azhar did exactly that as an opener along with Dawood Ejaz. They put on an opening partnership of 109 in just 8.4 overs. Ejaz hit 62 off 30 balls with seven boundaries and four sixes before being caught behind by Umar Arshad off Muhammad Farooq Momand. He went on to bag the PSM Player of the Match award and Hemani Fragrances Game – Changer/Best batter award.  In the 11th over Abdullah Azhar too became a Muhammad Farooq Momand victim but after hitting 45 runs off 26 balls with six boundaries and one six.


Though Qamar Awan fell quickly to Farood Momand for 1, Ameer Hamza took the score to 143 by the 14th over. Hamza fell caught behind off by wicketkeeper Umar Arsahd for 25 off Fayyaz Ahmed but Haseeb Ur Rehman through an unbeaten 11 took Pakistan Super Market XI to the target in 16.5 overs and record a five-wicket win.
