Sharjah CBFS juniors 2022 Under-17 tournament got off to a brilliant start with Aryan Saxena cracking a century and Yayin Kiran Rai of BE Spartans producing a four-wicket spell. Sharjah Cricket Academy recorded an emphatic 108-runs win over Deserts Cubs B riding on Aryan’s stupendous knock of 119 off just 60 balls studded with 10 boundaries and seven sixes. In another match, BE Spartans’ Yayin Kiran Rai’s deadly spell of 4 for 11 ensured his team a nine-wicket win against Maxtalent.
Desert Cubs A team defeated Kings IJC by 32 runs through Aradhya Sharma’s timely spell of 2 for 16 while Tellicherry Cricket Academy recorded a 63-runs win over Maxtalent through Vedhas Khot’s all-round show.
The CBFS juniors' Under-17 tournament had commenced at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium after the conclusion of Under-12 and Under-14 finals with Desert Cub scoring a 32-run win over Kings IJC. It was Kings IJC that won the toss and elected to field. Desert Cubs lost opener Rakesh Murari for 8 runs but opener Aryan Chopra (13) and Hriday Savnani (11) kept the score board moving. This was followed by Delen Sean Jayanethi hitting 25 runs and Akshat Rai top scoring with 32 runs to ensure a total of 124 for 7.
However, Kings IJC’s batsmen were not able to rise to the challenge. Uddish Suri top scored with 37 runs while Bazil Asim scored 21 and Rachit Ghosh hit 18 runs. Aradhya Sharma led the bowling attack with two wickets for 16 runs and restricted Kings IJC to 92 for 6.
Maxtalent began on a bad note losing opener Sanjit Ram for a duck and their skipper and one-drop batsman Cleon Sequeria for another duck. Both wickets were taken by Nimit Karamchandani. Vedhas Khot and Gabriel Varughese too bagged two wickets each to bowl out Maxtalent for 86 in 19.3 overs.
The Maxtalent-BE Spartans saw a fine exhibition of bowling from Yayin Kiran
Rai. Opting to bat first, Maxtalent could
muster only 88 for 9 due to Yayin Kiran Rai’s spell of 4 for 11. Only two of
Maxtalent’s batsmen Armaan Joshi (22) and skipper Cleon Sequeria (18) reached
double figures.
BE Spartans chased the target without any pressure. Opener Shrey Sethi hit an unbeaten 20 while skipper Faisur Rahman scored 57 runs. His knock off 32 balls had 10 boundaries and Be Spartans reached the target in 9.3 overs.
