Faraazuddin spins out Colatta Chocolates to give Future Mattress a winning start in the CBFS T20 match

By K.R. Nayar

Future Mattress’s off spinner Faraazuddin bowled out strong Colatta Chocolates for 114 in 18.5 overs and pulled off an emphatic nine wicket win in the 13th match of the CBFS T20 match at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Faraazuddin bagged three wickets giving away just 19 runs from his four overs.

It was the first double header match of the day and Future Mattress’ first match in this tournament. Colatta Chocolates won the toss and promptly elected to bat only to find Future Mattress bowlers tying them down from the start.

UAE’s 2015 World Cup player Krishna Chandran opened the innings with his skipper Renjith Mani. They put on 24 runs in 3.2 overs when Muhammad Azhar had Krishna Chandran stumped by wicketkeeper Ashwanth Valthappa for 5. Renjith Mani and Hari Prasanth took the score to 47 when Muhammad Azhar struck again to remove Renjit Mani for 19. Hari Prasanth, who was striking well, got run out in a terrible mix up at his score on 23.

Two runs later, Nikhil Srinivasan became Faraazuddin’s first victim for a duck. Faraazuddin also clean bowled Vishnu Ramesh for a duck. With half the side back in the dug-out and only 62 runs on board, Colatta Chocolates struggled for runs. Junaid Shamsu held on to score 18 runs and took the score to 96 in 15.2 overs when Umair Ali got him out. At the same score, Taimoor Ali fell to the guiles of Rohan Mustafa for 15. Faraazuddin returned to clean bowl Intizaar Ali for 3 while Rohan Mustafa struck again to remove Gopakumar Gopalakrishnan for 1. When Syam Ramesh got run out for 9, the Colatta Chocolates’ innings ended for 114 in 18.5 overs.

Future Mattress got off to a shocking start when Renjith Mani had their star batsman Rohan Mustafa caught and bowled for 16 at the score on 40. What followed was a super batting display from young Alishan Sharafu and opener Ashwanth Valthappa. They quickly settled down and began to slowly but steadily dominate the bowling. They took their team to the target in 14.1 overs. Ashwanth Valthappa remained unbeaten on 32 while Alishan Sharafu remained unconquered with 59. Alishan Sharafu’s 59 came off 37 balls with four boundaries and four sixes,  Ashwanth Valthappa’s 32 came off 31 balls with three boundaries and a six.
