UAE’s Akshat Rai and Yayin Kiran crack unbeaten tons in their 253 runs win over Qatar while Bahrain’s Muhammad Adil Haq Nawaz hits a century in their 180 runs win over Saudi Arabia and Kuwait down Oman by 27 runs through Ummer Abbas’ allround show

Three centuries lit up the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Men’s Under-16 West Zone Cup being hosted by Bahrain Cricket Federation at the Vision Cricket Centre Grounds in Sharjah. On the second day of the event, UAE’s Akshat Rai cracked an unbeaten 113 while Yayin Kiran scored an unconquered 111 to give UAE a total of 288 for 4 and bowl out Qatar for a paltry 35 runs and win by 253 runs. In Bahrain’s 180-runs win over Saudi Arabia, Muhammad Adil Haq Nawaz cracked 100. Kuwait outplayed Oman by 27 runs through Ummer Abbas’s allround show hitting 67 runs and bagging two wickets.
Akshat Rai and Yayin Kiran tons destroy Qatar
UAE won the toss and elected to bat at the Vision 4
ground. Opener Akshat Rai and skipper Shrey Sethi produced an electrifying
start putting on 106 runs in 16.6 overs. Sethi fell to Sukrit Subhadri Mitra
for 52 which came off 49 balls with three boundaries and two sixes. One-drop
Muhammad Rayan Khan got out leg before to Riyan Khan for 1. Shalom Dsouza got
run out for 2 and Madhav Manoj Nair too got out quickly falling to Sukrit
Subhadri for 1.
This was followed by an unbeaten 172 runs partnership
between Akshat Rai and Yayin Kiran Rai for the fifth wicket in 92 balls. Yayin
Kiran remained unbeaten on 111 off 56 balls with nine boundaries and seven
sixes while Akshat remained unconquered on 113 off 96 balls with 11 boundaries
and one six. UAE went on to post 288 for 4 in 34.5 overs.
Chasing the huge target, Qatar did not put up a big
fight. They crashed to the accurate UAE attack starting from pacer Yug Sharma
bagging 3 for 11 from his five overs backed by Uddish Suri (3 for 2) and
Abdullah Ismail (3 for 3). Qatar were shot out for 35 runs in 13.4 overs.

Bahrain’s Muhammad Adil Haq Nawaz’ s brilliant century
Saudi Arabia won the toss and elected to field at the Vision 2 ground. Bahrain lost an early wicket with opener Ayan Obaid Syed getting clean bowled to Fahad Munir for 4. One-drop Sai Sarthak Vaddiraju and Aryan Ashwin took the score to 52 before Sai Sarthak got out to Syed Usman Siddiq for 11. Aryan Ashwin fell at the score on 68 becoming another Syed Usman victim for 37.
Muhammed Basil Abdul Hakkim, who had cracked 96
against Qatar in his last match, and Muhammad Adil Haq Nawaz put on a 194
runs partnership in 142 balls for the fourth wicket. This partnership ended in
a run out when Muhammad Adil Haq Nawaz got out to a throw from Taha Vaseem
Amre for 100. His knock off 76 balls had nine boundaries and four sixes.
Muhammed Basil took the score to 267 when he fell to Fahad Munir for 78.
His run-a-ball knock had 12 boundaries. Bahrain thus posted 270 for 5 in 35
overs.
Saudi Arabia began on a disastrous note with opener
Mohammad Zuber Sunasara getting out leg before to Anas Obaid Syed for 1.
One-drop Taha Vaseem Amre got clean bowled to Anas Obaid Syed for 2. Two runs
later Hashir Ahmad Sajjad too became Anas Obaid Syed’s third victim for 1.
Three wickets down for 16, Syed Syed Usman Siddiq and Fahad Munir took the
score to 26 before Syed Usman got trapped leg before by Shyju Nair for 7.
The only strong partnership of the innings began
between Fahad Munir and Omair Ahmed Wahab. They put on 39 runs in 49 balls for
fifth wicket. After Fahad Munir got out for 25 to Mohammed Shaheen Tajudeen and
Omair Ahmed too followed trapped leg before by Sai Sarthak Vaddiraju for 14,
none of the other batsmen rose to the challenge. Bahrain skipper Vishwaesh
Gurumurthy speeded up his team’s victory taking two quick wickets. In the end,
Saudi Arabia could muster only 90 for 9 in 24.5 overs.

Ummer Abbas steals show in Kuwait’s win over Oman
Oman won the toss and elected to field. Kuwait openers Het Kishorbhai Hinsu and Ummer Abbas gave a brilliant start putting on 91 runs in 12.6 overs. Het Kishorbhai was the first to go caught by Kriv Rajesh Patel off Aneekchakrovarty 39. His knock off 35 balls had six boundaries.
Ummer Abbas and
one-drop batter Mohammed Armaan Ilysa took the score to 125 in 19.1 overs when
Abbas got out to Puladith Omidu for 67. His 63 balls knock had eight boundaries
and two sixes.
Armaan and
skipper Jay Maheshkumar Mehta swelled the total to 175 in 27.3 overs before
Illas fell to Prathieshhema Ramesh for 42. His 37 ball knock had four
boundaries and a six. After Jay Maheshkumar got run out for 26, wickets began
to fall quickly. One run later Farhan Altaf Sain got out to Prathieshhema Ramesh
for 5. Ten runs later, Muhammad Aqif Farooq got out trapped leg before by
Devansh Loya for 12. Loya also got Arsh Sahil out for 4. In the end, Kuwait
posted 209 for 8 in 35 overs. Loya returned with figures of 3 for 29.
Chasing the total, Oman lost early wickets. Opener
Jeet Vrajesh Shah got bowled by Muhammad Aqif Farooq for 4. Aneekchakrovarty
too followed falling to Arsh Sahil for 4. This was followed by a 55 runs
partnership in 56 balls between Loya and skipper Kriv Rajesh Patel before Kriv
Rajesh got bowled by Dhaksh Lakshman Dheeraj for 22. This was followed by quick
fall of wickets. At the score on 78, Loya got out to Janath Jeewanga Herath for
41. His knock off 50 balls had four boundaries.
Jeyapraneshayyappan Sangeetha also got out to Janath
Jeewanga for a duck and one run later Rishab Shivadasgupta also became a Janath
Jeewanga victim for 3. When Oman were six runs short of the 100-run mark,
Puladith Omidu Medagodamedagoda Ralalage got out to Dhaksh Lakshman Dheeraj for
10. Varshieth Saai Dinesh held on to score a fighting 39 off 36 balls with five
boundaries but Oman could muster only 182 in 33.1 overs. Varshieth Saai was the
last batsman to fall to Rudransh Panchal and Kuwait recorded a 27 runs win.
