Renjith Mani cracks 129 in Colatta Chocolates’ big win while Fayyaz Ahmed produces a four wicket spell and hits unbeaten half century in Future Mattress’s triumph

Two allround performances made the ninth and tenth matches of the 34th Sharjah Ramadan Cup T20 tournament a spectacular treat to watch. Renjith Mani of Colatta Chocolates cracked 129 and also bagged a wicket to gift his team a whopping 166 runs win over UAE Champions. In another match, Future Mattress’ Fayyaz Ahmed bagged four wickets for eight runs and also cracked an unbeaten 59 to defeat Kabul Zalmi by six wickets.
Renjith Mani’s knock off 129 came off 56 balls and had 13 boundaries and six sixes, which helped Colatta Chocolates post 300 for 4 in 20 overs. UAE Champions were restricted to 134 for 8 in 20 overs. In the Future Mattress and Kabul Zalmi match, Kabul Zalmi got bowled out for 132 through Fayyaz Ahmed’s spell of 4 for 8 from 1.5 overs. Future Mattress won in 15.5 overs through Fayyaz Ahmed’s unbeaten half century.

Kabul Zalmi won the toss and elected to bat. They lost
both their openers for 16 runs. The first to go was Muhammad Daud falling to
Imran Khan for 6. Opener and captain Rafeeq Zaman fell to Shahzad Adil for 1.
Abdulhaq and Amjad Gul steadied the innings through a 48 runs partnership for
the third wicket before Gul got caught behind by wicketkeeper Abdul Shakoor off
Sajjad Malook for 25. Next man Abdullah Khan got run out for 8.
Half the Kabul Zalmi side was back in the dug-out when Abdulhaq too got out to Nasir Faraz for 37. Five runs before the 100-run mark, Abdul Khaliq got bowled by Tahir Latif for 1. Muhammed Arshad took the score to 111, scoring 20 runs, before getting bowled to Fayyaz Ahmed. Two runs later, Hilalafghan got caught and bowled by Fayyaz Ahmed for 2. Fayyaz Ahmed also had Saifullah Noor out for 1 and Wasim Akram stumped by wicketkeeper Abdul Shakoor for 1. Kabul Zalmi thus got bowled out for 132 in 19.5 overs. Fayyaz Ahmed returned with figures of 4 for 8 from 1.5 overs.
Chasing the target, skipper and opener Usman, together with Abdul Shakoor, put on 36 runs before Usman got caught behind by wicketkeeper Muhammad Daud off Abdulhaq for 26. Shakoor too followed trapped leg before by Riaz Khaliq Kaku for 9. Syed Haider Shah then got out to Riaz Khaliq Kaku for 2. Fayyaz Ahmed went for his strokes and with Dawood Ejaz took the score to 85. Ejaz got caught and bowled by Riaz Khaliq Kaku for 7.
Fayyaz Ahmed continued to bat confidently. He got good
support from Nasir Faraz (19n.o). Fayyaz Ahmed remained unbeaten on 59 off 37
balls with seven boundaries and a six. Future Mattress reached the target in
15.5 overs and recorded a six-wicket win.

Chocolates won the toss and elected to bat. Their openers Shakeer Hydru and
Renjith Mani put on 133 runs in 10.2 overs. First to go was Hydru, caught
behind by wicketkeeper Haroon Altaf off Rachit Rai, for 59. His knock off 32
balls had five boundaries and three sixes. Mani and Janaka Chaturanga further
bumped up the score. They put on 107 runs for the second wicket before Mani,
who played a stupendous knock of 129, got out to Rajesh M.
Janaka Chaturanga kept the score board moving and
added another 25 runs for the third wicket with before falling to Zohaib Haider for 50. His knock off 17 balls had two boundaries and five sixes. Junaid Shamsu got trapped leg before to Manish Chauhan for
6. V.M Shahi (26n.o) and Mazhar Hussian (8n.o) ensured a total of 300 for 4 in
20 overs.
UAE Champions, chasing the huge target, lost their opener Abdul Manan to Mazhar Hussain for 1. Opener Zohaib Haider got trapped leg before to Renjith Mani for 17. Skipper Manish Chauhan fell to Krishan Paul for 1. Haroon Altaf and Noman Ali Khan took the score to 90 before Noman Ali Khan got out bowled by Akhil Das for 23.
When Haroon Altaf too got clean bowled to Junaid Shamsu for 39, half
the UAE Champions side was back in the dug-out for 90. Rehan Khan became
another Krishan Paul victim for 9. The defeat was quicker when Tanishq Arora
got run out for 14 and Rachit Rai got clean bowled to Gopakumar Gopalakrishnan
for 1. Rajesh M (10n.o) and Banty Nandy (6n.o) could muster only 134 for 8 in
20 overs and UAE Champions crashed to a 166-runs defeat.
