Skipper Renjith Mani sparkles in Colatta Chocolates’ triumph through an allround performance while Khalid Shah’s knock of 70 steals the show in Ajman Heroes’ big win

Skipper Renjith Mani’s allround show by bagging four wickets and scoring 35 runs gave Colatta Chocolates a six-wicket win over Valley Boyz on the second day of the 34th Sharjah Ramadan Cup T20 tournament at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.  

 


In another match, Ajman Heroes’ opener Khalid Shah emerged the hero of their team’s 66 runs win over Nadim Cricket Club through a knock of 70. His knock gave Ajman Heroes a total of 198 for 6 in 20 overs and Nadim Cricket Club was restricted to 132 for 8 in 20 overs.

 

Renjith Mani’s four wicket spell wrecks Valley Boyz

 

Valley Boyz won the toss and elected to bat. Their opener and skipper Mohsen Mattoo along with Mafooz Ilahi put on 26 runs before Ilahi got out to Muhammad Zeeshan for 12. This was followed by a 47-runs partnership for the second wicket between Saqib Amin and Mohsen Mattoo. Saqib Amin got clean bowled to Mazhar Hussain for 5. Two runs later, Mohsen Mattoo who did the bulk of the scoring got caught behind by wicketkeeper Shakeer Hydru off Renjith Mani for 54. His knock off 40 balls had eight boundaries and a six.

 

When Valley Boyz were two runs short of the 100 run mark, Usman Pandith got out to Muhammad Zeeshan for 13. At the same score, Khalid Ibrahim got clean bowled to Gopakumar Gopalakrishnan for 11.  Gopakumar also trapped Majid Manzoor leg before for a duck. At the score of 100, Musa Benazir became another Renjith Mani victim for 1. Two runs later, Mudasir Wani got clean bowled to Renjith Mani, also for 1.  Sufiyan Farooq pushed the score to 113 before falling to Renjith Mani for 8, and when Zaid Ali got run out for 8, Valley Boyz was bowled out for 122 in 20 overs.

 


Chasing the score, Colatta Chocolates’ opener Janaka Chaturanga could not stay long and fell to Mohsen Mattoo for 14. Waseem Rana and skipper Renjith Mani took the score to 40 in four overs when Rana got run out for 12. Renjith Mani sparkled with the bat too and scored 35 runs before he too got run out at the score on 96.

 

But Shakeer Hydru maintained the run flow. Shabik got out to Saqib Amin for 6. Akhil K Das provided support to Hydru and carried the team to the target in 12.3 overs. Shakeer Hydru remained unbeaten on 48 off 24 balls with three boundaries and three sixes.

Khalid Shah’s sparkling 70 in Ajman Heroes’s win

 

In the second match of the day, Nadim Cricket Club won the toss and elected to field. Ajman Heroes opener Nazir Aziz got out early to Haroon Arif for 8. Rahul Chopra and opener Khalid Shah took the score to 87 in 10.3 overs. Chopra got bowled by Muhamad Rehan Shah for 24. At the score of 123, Mohammad Ajmal got out to Nadmin for 16. Khalid Shah who kept the scoreboard moving at a brisk pace fell at 139 after scoring 70 runs. His knock off 47 balls had ten boundaries and a six.

 


Faisal Baig and Harshit Kaushik swelled the total through good knocks. At the score of 164, Faisal Baig got out to Nadim for 20. Harshit Kaushik fell to Mohammad Wasif for 23 at the score of 172.  Jeeevan Gangadharan hit an unbeaten 23 and took the score to 198 for 6 in 20 overs.

 

Chasing the target, Nadim Cricket Club could not maintain the run flow needed to reach the target. The first to go was opener Altaf Commando for 1 falling to Sultan Ahmed at the score on 9. Opener Asghar Khan got out to Ankur Sangwan for 21. Skipper Nadim too did not last long as he got trapped leg before to Nasir Aziz for 2.

 


Wickets continued to fall without a strong partnership. Zahid Ameer got run out for 22 and Muhamad Rehan Shah got out leg before to Nasir Aziz for 34. Four runs later, Mohd Wasif got clean boweld to Harshit Kaushik for 3. Irshad Hussain too got clean bowled to Zohaib Gujjar for 11. Faris Faisal chipped in with 14 runs before becoming another Zohaib Gujjar victim for 14. Haroon Arif remained unbeaten 20 but Nadim Cricket Club got restricted to 132 for 8 in 20 overs.
