Sagar Kalyan’s heroic and stunning unbeaten knock of 151 helps Ajman Heroes emerge as the Sharjah Ramadan Cup T20 Plate Champions in a run-riot final against Z Game Strikers

In a run-riot intensely fought final filled with showers of sixes when a total of 438 runs were scored together by both the finalists, Ajman Heroes emerged as the Sharjah Ramadan T20 Cup Plate Champions at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday night. The final produced 23 sixes and 35 boundaries. Ajman Heroes’s opener Sagar Kalyan stole the thunder with an unbeaten 151 off just 67 balls. His 12 sixes and 13 boundaries helped Ajman Heroes post a whopping 242 for 2 in 20 overs.

Z Game Strikers fought valiantly through their skipper Shahrukh Muhammad Amin, who cracked an unbeaten 93 off 61 balls with eight boundaries and four sixes. Unfortunately, they were restricted to 191 for 4 and lost the match by 56 runs in the spectacular final.

The clash began with Ajman Heroes winning the toss and electing to bat. Openers Sagar Kalyan and Khalid Shah gave their team a whirlwind start posting 130 runs in 10 overs. Khalid Shah was then stumped by wicketkeeper Safeer Tariq off Adithya Shetty for 36. Harshit Kaushik joined Sagar Kalyan who was in full flow and scoring briskly. Together they put on a 97-runs partnership for the second wicket before Harshit Kaushik was clean bowled by Faisal Altaf for 35.

Rahul Chopra chipped in with an unbeaten 10 runs while providing support to Sagar Kalyan and took the score to 247 for 2 in 20 overs.  Sagar Kalyan remained unconquered on 151 runs thrashing every bowler who bowled at him.

Chasing the mammoth total, Z Game Strikers did not waiver and began positively. Opener Ronak Panoly and skipper Shahrukh Muhammad Amin put on 58 runs in 5.1 overs. Muzamil took the prize wicket of Panoly by having him clean bowled for 31. Muzamil struck another bigger blow when he had the consistent Lovepreet Bajwa stumped by Rahul Chopra for 2 at the score of 60. Three runs later, Safeer Tariq got caught behind by wicketkeeper Rahul Chopra off Jeevan Gangadharan for a duck.

However, Sardar Bahazad and Shahrukh Muhammad Amin steered the total past the 100 run mark. At the score of 113, Muzamil clean bowled Sardar Bahazad for 16. Then Fahad Nawaz and Shahrukh Muhammad Amin put on a strong effort to carry their team to the target. In the end they could muster only 191 for 4 with Shahrukh Muhammad Amin remaining unbeaten on 93. Fahad Nawaz too hit an unbeaten 28. They had put on an unconquered 78-runs partnership for the fifth wicket but their efforts went in vain.
