Sajid Iqbal’s fine half century and his team’s tight bowling help Gems Education Cricket team record an impressive 69 runs win over Z Game Strikers

Sajid Iqbal’ fine knock of 65 gave Gems Education Cricket team an impressive 69 runs win over Z Game Strikers in the 29th Bukhatir League T20 on Monday night at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Gems Education Cricket team also bowled brilliantly to bowl out Z Game Strikers for just 82 runs in 16.2 overs while chasing a total of 151 for 7 in 20 overs.

Gems Education Cricket team won the toss and elected to bat. Openers Balraj Singh and Salman Shahid fell early. Singh got clean bowled to Shahid Bhutta for 3 and Shahid got out to Irfan Khattak for 6. This was followed by an 89 runs partnership for the third wicket between Anwar Khan and Sajid Iqbal. Anwar became Shahid Bhutta’s second victim for 43. Three runs later, Muhammad Salman got clean bowled to Faisal Altaf for 3 while Muhammad Farooq Momand got run out for 4.

 

Abdul Malik added another eight runs with Sajid Iqbal before falling to Irfan Khattak. Qaisar Nawaz was then clean bowled by Irfan Khattak for 2. Sajid Iqbal, through his fine unbeaten knock of 65 off 43 balls with six boundaries, ensured a total of 151 for 7 in 20 overs.

 


Chasing the target, Z Game Strikers lost the valuable wicket of their opener Ronak Panoly clean bowled by Abdul Malik for 1. One-drop Muhammad Farqan Khalil got dismissed by Shahid Nawaz for 2. At the score of 40, opener and skipper Shahrukh Muhammad got out to Qaisar Nawaz for 9. Then wickets continued to fall at regular intervals. At the score of 50, Ameer Hamza got out to Qaisar Nawaz for 6. Half the side was back in the dug-out when consistent batsman Moazam got trapped leg before by Muhammad Farooq Momand for 15.


At the score of 56, Sardar Bahazad got run out for a duck and Gems Education Cricket team took a firm grip on the match. Safeer Tariq too did not last long and got clean bowled by Harshit Seth for 5. Harshit Seth also got Shahid Bhutta out for 11. Abdul Malik returned to remove Irfan Khattak clean bowled for 1 and Babar Iqal retired out for a duck. Faisal Altaf remained unebaten on 8 and Z Game Strikers were bowled out for 82 in 16.2 overs.
