Shahid Nawaz and Ali Afridi wreck Goodrich Gladiators with three wicket spells each to ensure Gems Education Cricket team a five-wicket win

Gems Education Cricket team’s Shahid Nawaz and Ali Afridi bagged three wickets each to destroy Goodrich Gladiators and win the match by five wickets in the seventh match of the 29th Bukhatir League T20 contest on Thursday night at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Goodrich Gladiators were bowled out for 84 in 18.4 overs and Gems Education Cricket team won in 12.1 overs.

Goodrich Gladiators won the toss and elected to bat. Opener Banty Nandy got caught behind by wicketkeeper Salman off Abdul Malik for a duck. Soon opener Raweem Babar fell at the score of 14 to Shahid Nawaz for 8. Two runs later, Shawn George became Abdul Malik’s second victim for 5. At the score of 34, Kiran Jyothi got caught behind by wicketkeeper Salman off Shahid Nawaz for 15. When half the side was back in the dug out, Sowrabh Kesari fell to Muhammad Farooq Momand for 5.


P.S. Mani carried the score to 75 scoring 13 runs before getting run out. At the same score, Umar Maqsood too fell to Ali Afridi for a duck. One run later, Yuvraj Barua became another Ali Afridi victim for 19. After two more runs, Kumaran Raj fell to Shahid Nawaz for 1 and Thirumalai became the last batter to fall becoming Ali Afridi’s third victim for 6. Goodrich Gladiators were thus bowled out for 84 in 18.4 overs.



Chasing the easy target, Gems Education Cricket team lost their opener Anwar Khan for 10 at the score of 19 trapped leg before by Shawn George. Opener Salman Rashid hit 19 runs before falling to Kumaran Raj. One-drop Sajid Iqbal and Salman took the score to 38 before Sajid Iqbal got caught behind by wicketkeeper Banty Nandy off Kumaran Raj for 1.


Balraj Singh and Salman then took the total closer to the target. At the score of 71, Balraj Singh got out leg before to Shawn George for 26. Four runs later, Salman got run out for 10. Muhammad Farooq Momand (8n.o) and Qaisar Nawaz (3n.o) took their team to the target in 12.1 overs. Gems Education Cricket team thus won by five wickets.
