Warriors Cricket Club records an exciting nine runs win through skipper Kaunain Abbas’ knock of 60 despite a stupendous allround show from Shahram Dubai Knights’ Faisal Baig’s hat-trick and a fighting knock of 71

Warriors Cricket Club skipper Kaunain Abbas’ knock of 60 and Faraazuddin’s unbeaten 52 steered their team to an exciting nine-runs win over Shahram Dubai Knights in the fifth match of the 29th Bukhatir League T20 match at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. After posting a challenging total of 161 for 7 in 20 overs, Shahram Dubai Knights got restricted to 152 for 9 in 20 overs. A stupendous allround show from Shahram Dubai Knights’ Faisal Baig, who produced a hat-trick and bagged four wickets and hit 71 runs went in vain.

It was Warriors Cricket Club second successive victory after they beat The Vision Shipping in their first match. Warriors Cricket Club won the toss and elected to bat against Shahram Dubai Knights. Abubakar Khan took the valuable wicket of Usman Khan, who had hit 105 in his last match, clean bowled for 2 with the fourth ball of the first over. Opener Shaurya Singh and skipper Kaunain Abbas took the score to 64 in 7.1 overs before Shaurya Singh fell to Muhammad Shahram for 16. Kaunain Abbas then steered his team past the 100 run mark. At the score of 113, Kaunain Abbas got out to Irfan Sajid after cracking a quick 60 off 39 balls with four boundaries and two sixes.

Faraazuddin maintained the run flow playing some lovely shots. Malinda Pushpakumara fell at the score of 140 to Faisal Baig. Thereafter, Faisal Baig produced a hat-trick. He removed Ahsan Shah with the first ball of the last over at the score of 157 caught by Khaliq at long off; with the next ball he got Intizaar Ali also caught by Khaliq at long off for a duck, and then trapped Saifullah Noor leg before for a duck to record his hat-trick. Faraazuddin remained unbeaten on 52 off 39 balls with five boundaries and a six to ensure Warriors Cricket Club a total of 161 for 7 in 20 overs.


Chasing the target, Shahram Dubai Knights got off to a poor start losing three quick wickets. Opener Abdul Khaliq fell to the second ball of the first over from Saifullah Noor, caught behind by wicketkeeper Kaunain Abbas for 4. One-drop Rashid Habib got clean bowled to Malinda Pushpakumara for 3 in the second over. Safiullah Noor also got opener Ahsan Sultan for 8 and the score of 20. Skipper Zahid Ameer and Faisal Baig fought hard and took the score to 75 in 9.3 overs when Faraazuddin struck to remove Zahid Ameer for 43. His knock off 29 balls had five boundaries and two sixes. Two runs later, Malinda Pushpakumara struck again trapping Irfan Sajid leg before for a duck.

With half the side back in the dug-out for 77, the going became tough for Shahram Dubai Knights. Soon Said Umar Shah became Malinda Pushpakumara’s third victim for 2. Muhammad Shahram and Faisal Baig steered the score past the 100 run mark. At the score of 110, Muhammad Shahram got run out for 3. Faisal Baig carried the score to 143 in 18.3 overs when he got bowled by Ahsan Shah for 71. His knock off 47 balls had seven boundaries and a six. Five runs later, RRR I Abubakar Khan too got run out for 4 and Shahram Dubai Knights got restricted to 152 for 9 in 20 overs and lost the match by nine runs.
