Zohaib Khan’s allround show helps CSS Group record an emphatic 149 runs win over First Abu Dhabi Bank

Zohaib Khan’s stupendous allround show helped CSS Group record a huge 149 runs victory over First Abu Dhabi Bank in the eighth match of the 29th Bukhatir League T20 contest on Friday night at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. CSS Group posted 215 for 6 in 20 overs through half centuries from Zohaib (57) and Jeevan Gangadharan (59n.o). In reply, First Abu Dhabi Bank was bowled out for 66 in 18.2 overs with Zohaib taking two wickets backed by Nipun Babu’s spell of three wickets for three runs.

First Abu Dhabi Bank won the toss and elected to field. CSS Group openers Zohaib Khan and Abhinand Maladath put on 36 runs in 3.1 overs. Sajish Siva trapped Abhinand Maladath leg before for 24. One-drop Fazal Oasis and Zohaib Khan took the score to 65 in 6.2 overs. Naeemuddin Aslam got Fazal Oasis out for 20. Abhiram Hrithwik too fell to Naeemuddin Aslam for 2 at the score of 72.

 

Vishnuraj and Zohaib then  steered the total past the 100-run mark. At the score of 124, Vishnuraj got out to Shaluka Kandanearachchi for 28. Zohaib, who kept the scoreboard moving with a fine knock of 57 off 41 balls with four boundaries and two sixes, later got out to Venkatesh. Jeevan Janardhanan swelled the total through a breezy unbeaten 59. His knock off 24 balls had five boundaries and four sixes. Along with Vimalnadh, who got out to Venkatesh for 9, Jeeven took the score to 179. Skipper Ranjit Haridas  remained unbeaten on 6 and together with Jeevan Gangadharan, they posted a huge total of 215 for 6 in 20 overs.

 


First Abu Dhabi Bank got off to a shaky start. Opener Karthik got clean bowled by Gihan Chathuranga for 9. Naeemuddin Aslam and Joel took the score to 30 when Joel became another Gihan Chathuranga victim for 8.  At the score of 44, three wickets fell. The first to go was skipper Sajish Siva for 3, clean bowled by Nipun Babu.  He was followed by Naeemuddin Aslam who got trapped leg before by Vimalnadh for 18. And the third to go was Mujahid clean bowled by Vimalnadh for a duck.

 

At the score of 46, Shaluka Kandanearachchi got out to Nipun Babu for 1. Muhammad Aslam too fell at the same score to Nipun Babu for a duck. Arunalu De Silva got clean bowled by Zohaib for 4. Ajan got run out for 5 and Zohaib then clean bowled Jibran Khaleel for 5. First Abu Dhabi Bank was thus bowled out for 66 in 18.2 overs.
