Jeevan Gangadharan and Vimalnadh bowl CSS Group into the semifinals, stopping Thambapanni Lions with a six-wicket victory

Jeevan Gangadharan and Vimalnadh from CSS Group bagged three wickets each, to restrict Thambapanni Lions to 140 for 7 in 20 overs. This ensured a six-wicket victory for their team in the fourth quarterfinal match of the 29th Bukhatir League at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday night. CSS Group won the match with five balls to spare, thanks to Abhiram Hrithwik's unbeaten 46 runs and Danish Sarhadi's 50 runs.

CSS Group won the toss and elected to field. Thambapanni Lions' openers, Samal Udawaththa and Daryl, put on 29 runs in 5.2 overs before Jeevan Gangadharan clean bowled Samal Udawaththa for 10. Jeevan also removed opener Daryl, who was clean bowled for 10. This was followed by a 40-run partnership between Janaka Chaturanga and Charith Nirmal for the third wicket. Vimalnadh dismissed Charith Nirmal for 26 and clean bowled Janaka Chaturanga for 13.

When Thambapanni Lions were seven runs short of reaching 100, Shabik became another victim of Jeevan Gangadharan, getting out for 17. Charith Buddika Gunawardana and Shehan Thandakkara pushed the score to 110 before Vimalnadh struck again, having Charith Buddika Gunawardana stumped by wicketkeeper Danish Sarhadi for 4. Hassan Ahmed ended Shehan Thandakkara's knock, clean bowling him for 27. Glenn Warren Fernandez (13 n.o) and Mohamed Halan (7 n.o) took the score to 140 for 7 in 20 overs.


CSS Group began their chase with opener Zohaib scoring 18 runs before getting run out at a score of 25. Fazal Oasis, batting at number three, and opener Abhiram Hrithwik took the score to 40 before Glenn Warren Fernandes dismissed Fazal for 9. Five runs later, Vishnuraj fell to Samal Udawaththa, scoring 3.

The journey towards the target became smooth and quicker when Danish Sarhadi and Abhiram Hrithwik put on an 88-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Danish Sarhadi scored a quick 50 off 37 balls, including five boundaries and six, before becoming another victim of Samal Udawaththa. Abhiram Hrithwik remained unbeaten on 46 off 51 balls, including one boundary and one six. Jeevan Gangadharan also remained unbeaten on 6, and CSS Group reached the target with five balls to spare."
