Sharjah Cricket Academy’s tour to the UK commences to provide more exposure to youngsters

Sharjah Cricket Academy's tour of the United Kingdom (UK) commenced today, from July 11 to July 20. This academy, one of the oldest in the UAE, will play matches against county club teams in the UK. A pre-tour meeting was held on July 9 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, headed by Mr. Mazhar Khan, General Manager of Sharjah Cricket, and Mr. Sivakumar Meyyappan, Chief Operating Officer. All tour members and parents attended the meeting.

Former UAE captain Khurram Khan, who played a pivotal role in UAE's qualification for the 2015 World Cup, is the Head of the Sharjah Cricket Academy, along with Niaz Ul Islam as Head Coach. The objective of the UK tour is to gain exposure by playing in different conditions.

During the pre-tour meeting, a jersey launch was held, with Amvin Sports as the Official Merchandise Partner for the tour.

Addressing the gathering, Mazhar Khan mentioned that in the future, there will be Sharjah Cricket Council tours for various categories such as Under-14, Under-16, Under-19, etc., from different academies.

The facilities at the Sharjah Cricket Academy are among the best in the UAE, with an international practice  
facility where international cricketers practise during tournaments. It also has a swimming pool and a gym to ensure fitness among all players.

UAE's top players like Rohan Mustafa, Ahmed Raza, who captained UAE, Aayan Afzal Khan, who dazzled in the 2022 Under-19 World Cup with match winning show , and rising star Aryansh Sharma are products of this academy.
