Yuvraj Singh, Shahid Afridi, and Kevin Pietersen to be in action in World Championship of Legends (WCL) to be held in Edgbaston

Dubai.  The England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will stage a T20 tournament featuring retired and non-contracted players from July 3, 2024. Legends like Yuvraj Singh, Shahid Afridi, and Kevin Pietersen will be in action alongside some of the great cricketers who had created great moments in the game.   This T20 tournament will light up the historic Edgbaston ground. Soon this venue will dress up to stage this tournament.


WCL, crafted by Zabawa Entertainment, will be welcoming renowned stars for epic clashes. It will be an extraordinary gathering of cricketing excellence. This tournament will be the highlight of the oncoming summer.  Almost all the legendary cricketers from cricketing powerhouses like England, India, Pakistan, Australia, West Indies, and South Africa will take part in this tournament.

Harshit Tomar, Director of Zabawa Entertainment shared his view about the event: "The current announcement strengthens WCL's status as a top-tier platform for past cricketing champions, creating new opportunities for the league's development and global significance."

Zabawa Entertainment,  is a distinguished Bollywood film and music production company with roots in India and Dubai, WCL has catalyzed advanced contract negotiations with cricket luminaries from the 1990s and 2000s. The choice of Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh is an example as he had lit up T20 cricket with his six sixes in an over. Another is the Pakistani great ‘Boom Boom’ Shahid Afridi. This allrounder has always been the crowd’s favourtie with bat and ball.  England's match winner Kevin Pietersen known for his brilliant stroke play have also committed to participate in this cricketing extravaganza.

“We aspire to deliver top-tier sports entertainment to fans globally,” Tomar stated, emphasizing the grand scale of the tournament.

The tournament is scheduled to be held from July 3 and the tournament promises to be an event of riveting clashes and unforgettable moments eagerly anticipated by fans and cricket enthusiasts.

Stuart Cain 

Stuart Cain, Chief Executive at Edgbaston, subtly alludes to the reigniting of captivating cricketing moments by stating, “It will be a pleasure to see some of the iconic figures from those games back at Edgbaston.”

Cain assured, “We are dedicated to ensuring it doesn’t compromise the quality of wickets and has minimal impact on our existing fixture commitments. Our collaboration with the organizers and the ECB remains paramount.”

Shahid Afridi 

 The organisers feel that: "As cricket's luminaries prepare to tread upon the revered grounds of Edgbaston, the World Championship of Legends stands as a beacon, promising not merely a tournament but an enduring chapter in cricketing history. This meticulously planned approach ensures a cricketing spectacle of unprecedented scale and excitement, poised to captivate audiences worldwide."

    T20 was initially thought to be played only by retired players. Better to watch YouTube videos of legends in their prime than this. Anyways, I'm surprised that there is an audience for this Legends tournament.
