A historic and inspirational cricket event in Thycaud, Trivandrum by Caravan Cricket Club that is more than four decades old

Nayar There is a famous quote about friendship that says: “Friends are like stars – they’re always coming and going, but the ones that stay burn as bright as the sun.”   On April 16th, at the inauguration of Caravan Cricket Club’s practice pitch and coaching camp facility at the Model School in Thycaud, Trivandrum, I felt every word from that quote was true.      Caravan's journey of love continues  So why do I say that? The gathering we had near the newly laid practice pitch was an example of how friendship from school days, if cherished, can never die. By K.R. Nayar Two allround performances made the ninth and tenth matches of the 34th Sharjah Ramadan Cup T20 tournament a spectacular treat to watch. Renjith Mani of Colatta Chocolates cracked 129 and also bagged a wicket to gift his team a whopping 166 runs win over UAE Champions. In another match, Future Mattress’ Fayyaz Ahmed bagged four wickets for eight runs and also cracked an unbeaten 59 to defeat Kabul Zalmi by six wickets.  Renjith Mani’s knock off 129 came off 56 balls and had 13 boundaries and six sixes, which helped Colatta Chocolates post 300 for 4 in 20 overs. UAE Champions were restricted to 134 for 8 in 20 overs. In the Future Mattress and Kabul Zalmi match, Kabul Zalmi got bowled out for 132 through Fayyaz Ahmed’s spell of 4 for 8 from 1.5 overs. By K.R. Nayar Faisur Rahman’s unbeaten 73 off 54 balls with four boundaries and two sixes helped  Our Souq Cricket Club post a challenging 161 for 3 in 20 overs. They then  bowled out DCC Starlets for 137 in 18.5 overs to win by 24 runs in the seventh match of the 34th Sharjah Ramadan Cup T20 tournament at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. In the eighth match, Karwan Cricket Club recorded a five-wicket win over Arqam Cricket Club through Abuzar Tariq’s timely 33 and a breakthrough wicket. By K.R. Nayar Fayyaz Ahmed’s timely unbeaten 54 steered Future Mattress to a five-wicket win over Z Game Strikers. Batting first, Z Game Strikers were restricted to 149 for 7, and Future Mattress, through Fayyaz Ahmed’s knock, reached the target with three balls spare in the fifth match of the 34th Sharjah Ramadan Cup T20 tournament at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.   In the sixth match, Seven Districts restricted InterGlobe Marine to 125 for 8 despite a fine knock of 50 from Sandeep Singh. Haider Ali was the chief destroyer with a spell of 4 for 15. Nayar  Skipper Renjith Mani’s allround show by bagging four wickets and scoring 35 runs gave Colatta Chocolates a six-wicket win over Valley Boyz on the second day of the 34th Sharjah Ramadan Cup T20 tournament at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.     In another match, Ajman Heroes’ opener Khalid Shah emerged the hero of their team’s 66 runs win over Nadim Cricket Club through a knock of 70. His knock gave Ajman Heroes a total of 198 for 6 in 20 overs and Nadim Cricket Club was restricted to 132 for 8 in 20 overs.   Renjith Mani’s four wicket spell wrecks Valley Boyz   Valley Boyz won the toss and elected to bat. Our Souq Cricket Club and CSS Group off to an impressive start in the 34th Sharjah Ramadan Cup T20 tournament

By K.R. Nayar Our Souq Cricket Club recorded a 41 runs win over Arqam Cricket Club riding on Saad Refai’s unbeaten knock of 90 runs off 55 balls with five boundaries and five sixes. His knock helped Our Souq Cricket Club post 220 for 2 in the opening match of the 34th Sharjah Ramadan Cup T20 tournament at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.  Our Souq Cricket Club then restricted Arqam Cricket Club to 179 for 7 and won the match. Sixteen top teams divided into four groups are contesting in this tournament.   In the second match, CSS Group outplayed Kabul Zalmi by 72 runs. CSS Group, after posting 155 for 7 through Jishnu Sunil Kumar’s knock of 52, bowled out Kabul Zalmi for 83 with Farzeen Ahmed and Vimalnadh bagging three wickets each.   Saad Refai’s unbeaten 90 in opening match   Arqam Cricket Club won the toss and elected to field.
